Join us for Substack Go
Introducing a new program for writers to connect and support one another.
A generous spirit is bubbling amongst writers on Substack. Katherine Dee, writer of Default Friend, reflected after a community event, “every writer I’ve met through Substack is kind, caring, and loves what they do.”
As a result of this goodwill, writers are asking us for more chances to connect to one another—to find writers they can learn from, collaborate with, and grow alongside.
Today, we’re excited to share a new program called Substack Go that will create a concrete space for writers to forge those relationships and kickstart a sustainable writing habit in the new year.
Apply to Substack Go, a new month-long program that connects Substack writers and helps them kickstart a publishing habit in 2022.
The Substack team will connect Go participants to a small squad of eight to ten fellow writers in the same category or region for four weeks of support and structured guidance through the month of February.
Writers will leave the program with an understanding of Substack fundamentals, a squad of peers to turn to, and an established writing and publishing cadence.
Substack is built on the belief that to properly support independent writers we have to do more than just build software—we have to create the infrastructure to support writers in everything they do, from helping with health insurance to providing structured opportunities to connect and learn.
If you’ve set a New Year's resolution to go deeper into your writing practice, or to kickstart a new one, you don’t have to go at it alone. We hope you will join us for Substack Go.
Let’s go!

Program Overview
Go kickoff
Tuesday, February 1
One 60-minute session, offered three times to accommodate different time zones.
At the kickoff session, we’ll introduce you to the small squad that you will meet with throughout Go. Writers will be paired based on category and region as well as time availability. We’ll help writers get to know their squads and share personal goals.
Daily tips
Delivered to inboxes daily throughout the month of February.
Participating writers will be added to a private publication just for Substack Go writers. There, the Substack team will publish daily bite-sized tips on a strategic theme.
Week 1 - Developing goals for your publication
Week 2 - Differentiating your writing
Week 3 - Touring the Substack editor
Week 4 - Finding and engaging with readers
Roundtables
Friday, February 4, 11, 18, and 25
Weekly 45-minute sessions, offered three times each week to accommodate different time zones.
Each week the Substack team and writer squads will gather on Zoom for facilitated critiques to go deeper on the themes from the daily tips. Treat the Writer Roundtables as you would a newsroom or writing studio—a space for you to seek feedback on a key part of your publication from fellow writers.
Participating writers are encouraged to carve out time to publish consistently while participating. Whether you publish monthly, weekly, daily or somewhere in between, the Substack Go experience will be most meaningful for writers who maintain a publishing drumbeat. Join us for Silent Writing Hours for extra accountability.
Who is Substack Go for?
Go is for writers getting started or restarted, eager to set the foundation for publishing regularly in community with fellow writers.
Applications close on January 21, 2022. Substack will host 500 writers across categories and stages for this free program.
Writers are required to have a Substack publication and be in compliance with the Content Guidelines.
