Thank you for asking this wonderful question. I've been doing audio versions of my essays recently, and people seem into it! It reminded me that giving readers different ways to interact with words and thoughts and feelings can be powerful.

And my recommendation? Saeed Jones' voice notes are like texts from a friend! https://saeedjones.substack.com/

Hi all - I use the podcast feature the same way that Wu Fei (https://wufeimusic.substack.com/) does, and that's to share new original music.

So, I don't think I'm publishing the actual "podcast" anywhere (I think I have that option turned off), so my hope is that folks just sit with the song in the post itself, which I think has been working.

Thanks for sharing all your great work!

Hi everyone! On Substack I host a podcast called Unruly Figures, a celebration of history's greatest rule-breakers. I cover people like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Anne Bonny, and more. It's been so fun and I really love the flexibility Substack gives me.

I love what Ælfgif-who? does with audio for her posts! https://florencehrs.substack.com/p/balthild-from-enslaved-captive-to

Hi! I write pieces on Truth and Consciousness AND just yesterday launched "Listen to This Article" for my articles on astrology, non-dual spirituality, and the Divine Feminine. Give it a try if you like! My first piece is "New Moon in Aquarius: The Awakened Heart." 💖 Thanks, Substack and this great community!

I just read your New Moon Aquarius post. Astrology writing is so fun! I write a Substack publication devoted to the evolution of consciousness. Astrology is the next empowerment series I'm covering for my readers. Years ago (from about April 2013 to October 2015), I challenged myself to report on new and full moon on a deactivated Facebook page. I shared a lot of it in my yoga classes, too. People really liked it. You may have inspired me to get back into it. Great work and thanks for the cosmic nudge!

Hi y'all! I'd love to add more podcast / audio Substacks to my "reading" list. I struggle to listen to audio and then remember what I listened to (definitely more of a visual processor), does anyone have any recommendations of great podcasts they've loved here on Substack that are accompanied by a transcript? I really like the feel of reading through those transcripts as they have a different quality to a written piece, and, of course, having the option to listen to the audio if I'm feeling like that's manageable on any given day.

My podcast is largely just a reading of that week’s post. You’re right that it does have a different feel! I’m getting use to that as a creator too.

We are using substack to host our podcast. It has had unexpected benefits. It allows us to periodically post text-only updates and content, it allows us to promote it in both podcast AND newsletter vehicles (The Sample has been a great driver of newsletter subscriptions), and a very easy transition of/when we move to paid.

The podcast/newsletter is super niche - we analyze and comment upon the “public” events in early 1960s marvel comics as of the events were real. But as they say, “most don’t like it. But those who do, like it a lot!”

(I also drop irregular podcast episodes in my other newsletter, but it is definitely a newsletter first, with interviews, unlike Super Serious that is definitely more of a podcast than a written form)

There’s something about that “Old Man River” which brings out the storyteller. Reflections from the River comes from the banks of the Mississippi River, upstream from Memphis, downstream from St. Louis, where the aircraft carrier sized tows negotiate the twists and bends of America’s artery. In these five to ten-minute vignettes a modern-day Mark Twain, with the occasional O. Henry twist to an ending, holds a mirror to middle America, its challenges and its strengths. Author and speaker, Bill Enyart, draws from the well-springs of working-class Midwestern roots, tempered by his rise from enlisted military ranks to Major General and then US Congressman to tell stories that reveal much of the American soul and the path American military men, women and their families tread. Humor, duty, grief and comradeship share the stage. Audio production by Tom Calhoun at paguytom.com. Cover photo by Staff Sgt Lally Laksbergs, Army National Guard.
