What a refreshing “stumbled upon it” piece on a day when cynicism was overly ripe. Write consistently, share generously, engage authentically. Trifecta. Congratulations!

I knew this day would come!!! So excited for Mikala. She also posts the funniest memes on Notes. The way she responds to rude comments is inspirational/a masterclass on grace and patience.

Thank you so much for saying that, Jenovia!

This is inspiring! A book deal from Substack? eek, the possibilities!

Is there a book that explains how Substack is designed to work? Are there Rules and Fees? I signed up but I don't know the basics and am unsure how to post my novel as a serial.

Mike, I serialized a memoir on Substack last summer. It was a lot of fun and felt so creative. I'm happy to help show you the ropes, if you like. It's too much for a comment here. Feel free to check mine out (it's still out there in Substackland and some of the posts are free, just not the book chapters) .... goodeyebadeye.substack.com

Ah, maybe I should do that too. I'll check out your post.

Yes, I’m unsure of it, also. I shy away from social media, and so I’m not really privy to them. ? Why should I be comfortable here?

Thank you for sharing Mikala’s experience, it’s so encouraging to read and validating that to keep putting one foot in front of the other (posting regularly) is a strategy that works… especially when it feels like it’s the only strategy we might have! 🙏🏻😊

Consistently having fun is the best way to grow an audience, and make sure you grow your writing skills. I find lighthearted humor goes a long way, especially when writing about very serious topics.

Mikala is great. I love her newsletter. So happy to see her expanding and succeeding.

This is my goal too. I’m on chapter seven at the moment, posting once per month, and the consistency has really helped move the project along

As a decades-long runner and a "baby" indoor biker (yeah, Peloton), I am so happy to see writing about health-related issues taking off. I'll be looking for your book.

PS: Your post is the first one (after being here a year or so) that explained why/how "Notes" works. From now on, it's Notes all the way. Thank you!

Enjoyed reading this! I can definitly relate to not being strong on social media and realizing a lot of your followers on X are Only Fans bots lol. Thanks the advice and encouringing words!

The older I get, the better I feel about my body. Of course - I've stopped worrying altogether.
