Thank you for this. Thank you for acknowledging how daunting and lonely this path can be for new/independent writers, and for creating some scaffolding for us to scale.
Let me say, once again, that your strategies should be changed for the European 'market'. In Italy almost nobody reads newsletters and just one person (that is me) would pay for reading a good newsletter. And again: the market 'local news' is full already. Generally speaking, you should start thinking to a European version of Substack (a national version would be even better): of course I am ready to cooperate. I have been writing newsletter - on Substack - since a couple of years, but I have only 65 readers, even though I tried to apply ALL your suggestions.
Hamish, I'm an academic historian who has been working with kids and adults in (mostly) rural South for years as missionary for history, and they (and my friends and fans in UK and California) are my incredibly supportive base, but we're not in Brooklyn and need amplification! Thanks so much for this.
Oh, man. I am having some difficulties with the platform regarding the use of images.
The first problem was when I changed the main image of the post - the system wouldn't recognize a new one when I did the social media post. It was tremendously annoying.
Now I tried to add a large image to see if it would support it in the publication and it disappeared in the development area. From that moment on, no other images appear in the publishing development area. In other words, it was an image bug.
Please fix these problems quickly, I already feel like migrating to another newsletter platform. Sorry to be frank, but today has given a cold shower in the expectation of publishing my new content.
Anna WAS right!! Congrats, guys, what a dream team.
What kismet that you're quoted in this article and we met on this day!

Glad to hear the dream of building a “middle-class” for a larger group of indie writers is still alive!
I'm giving the Substack-life a try as well. Not looking to replace my career, but I'm grateful for the platform.
"Being independent shouldn’t mean being alone."
Thanks for this wonderful product, team and support.
This is awesome Hamish! The 2020s will be the decade of single-person media companies and Substack will be a big part of it!
Huge congrats to all! Dream additions to the team.
This is great news for Substack and Substack writers! Happy to hear this is happening! Let's do the impossible!

ok
Godspeed, Hamish! I'm new here and I am truly excited and in equal measure relieved to be part of this wonderful space.

I really enjoyed this post, thanks for sharing Hamish.
I'm only six weeks in, but have greatly enjoyed writing for Substack.

Congrats. When the website will be translated into Spanish? If you want to promote local news, it would be essential do it in the local language.
Oh thanks! Sometimes I feel the difficulties of building the net. But l feel hopeful, and grateful with you guys!
