Tom, you can't add subscribers to sections yourself, unfortunately, you have to tell them how to do it, and they have to do it themselves. By default, new subscribers get added to all your sections, and then they have to click 'unsubscribe' to remove themselves from sections they don't want. It's a bit tedious....
