We invited Walt Hickey, author of Numlock News, to share with an audience of Substack writers in New York how he thinks about spinning off multiple newsletters for fun and profit.
"As long as you figure out your social contract with your readers, you can do whatever you want." is brilliant. Thank you for this important principle!
Love the straightforwardness and very practical advice. Thanks! My internal dialog is going "so, did ya hear the man? Get goin'! Try stuff! If it doesn't work, well, erase the board and try more stuff."
Thanks for this. I'm thinking about adding multiple newsletters, but I don't understand how the payment works. For example, if someone subscribes to newsletter A, I'd like them to also get newsletter B included, if they want it. But if someone signs up for newsletter B, I don't want them to also get newsletter A. Can the subscriptions be done like this? Or how does it work?
I appreciate you sharing this crucial idea! I really https://tinyfishing.world like it.
