I really like the Substack platform, I like the subscription option with the ability to get paid as a writer or to see posts for free as a reader, but what I like most is that I have been able to comment here without censorship so far, and that is surprising considering the comments I sometimes leave. If censorship hits here too, which is unfortunately likely, I will probably be gone.
I generally don't pay for content, and the reason is not that I don't value the content or the writers' time, but because I have spent a LOT of TIME on various blogs myself since at least 2012 without charging for it, and as long as I'm blogging or commenting and not getting paid for it, I don't want to pay others either. That may be stupid from your perspective, but that's how I see it.
