Well done guys! I've been writing for over a year with Substack and after trying most of the other platforms I'm finally home.
It's not only felt more rewarding, It feels like how the social web should work. A solid community of the curious, sharing stories and ideas. The steady income I'm earning is the icing on the cake.
Two years? You've done a lot in that time. This is by far a better mailing list product than anything else I could find out there. Even the great ones that writers I looked up to were using just a few years ago still have self-imposed limits which do not make it easy for new voices to emerge. Thank you Substack!
I'm so inspired by this. Hamish and I met long ago, but I teach the Rise of Internet Media at NYU and would love for you to join us at some point. aaron.cohen@nyu.edu . I've been thinking about newsletters quite a bit and have been following your emails for the past couple of months.
Congratulations. I'm new to the platform and joined based on the recommendation from another publisher here. To say that I'm thrilled is an understatement. I look forward to doing more here in the future.
Bravo! What a beautiful and well-written summary. As someone who's been publishing here (and complimenting you on the brilliance of your business model) since the early days, I'm impressed with your overall trajectory in the first two years. I share your hopeful vision of a "new media ecosystem, built on trust, that pays creative people for their valuable work."
Congratulations on reaching this milestone, and thank you for all you're doing to help independent writers get paid properly for their work. It is sorely needed!
I recently contacted several other music writers who cover the same genre I do (dark ambient) and suggested that they consider moving their publications onto Substack, with the thought that perhaps we could form a "music writers' roundtable" and offer our readers bundled subscription options one day. So I am delighted to hear that you have plans to make such collaborative efforts easy. I'll be following these developments closely.
Looking at the accompanying illustration I see you have taken advantage of the anniversary and upgraded to Window 1865. Kudos. Still steam powered I guess.
Two years, proper offices and expanding staff. A very big well done.
Congratulations on 2 years guys! And congrats to all the other writers making it work.

I also looked at one or two other newsletter sites and Substack is head and shoulders above them.
Congratulations guys ! Can't wait to see you grow 🚀

Congratulations!!!
I'm new to the platform and was wondering if the writers are all English mother tongue?
Is it weird if I write in french? Is there any other french writers?
Congratulations, and a thank you from the very bottom of my heart.
Thank you, Jae! However, Substack is extremely a team effort. Chris and Jairaj are the true builders of Substack, so thanks must go to them.
