Doug is maybe the finest travel writer I've got to know in the field over the last decade, and I am so very delighted to see this shoutout for his work at SnackStack, which is a place that illustrates how funny he is as well. (He's also the nicest of blokes.)

If you like his writing, his books are equally a joy. Try this one: https://wwnorton.com/books/9780393247602

Not sure about that newsletter he recommended though! Sounds like the work of an idiot.

(Thank you, Doug. Whew.)

Wow, what a fun and fascinating read! I loved hearing from each writer about how they dive into food culture with such unique perspectives—from Katherine’s take on candy corn’s social history to Doug’s deep dive into the world of gummi worms. And Megan’s Halloween candy soundtrack? Spot on! Honestly, it makes me want to take a break, snack on something spooky, and play a few rounds of Cookie Clicker on https://cookieclickerunblocked.us/ because, really, what’s Halloween without some sweet treats and a bit of fun on the side? 🍪
