What an awesome journey to share! And as someone who loves pickleball, I get a real kick out of hearing it's blowing up. And as for the advice to persevere? That might be the number one key to success.

I've always wanted to know what Pickleball is, it sounds so much fun! Definitely not as popular in the UK, but will hopefully soon be on the rise!! (P.S. apparently even George Clooney and Leonardo DiCaprio are fans!)

Yes they both love pickleball I've heard!

It's so fun. It's definitely on the rise so hopefully it makes its way to the UK more.

I have nothing but complements to give this guy but I do have one question... Why not Tennis, why Pickleball?

Thanks so much!

And why not tennis? Great question. I grew up playing tennis. Still occasionally played, but found it wayyy harder to find a good competitive partner to play with.

Then my buddy recommended pickleball, and the first time I went, the courts were packed and there was so much camraderie among everyone playing.

Partly, because in tennis, people default to singles. Whereas in pickleball, people default to doubles. And the court is smaller, so four people are very close to each other. So IMO, it makes it very easy to make friends and find people to play with.

One other answer. Pickleball is just so much easier to learn than tennis. First time you play tennis, you'd suck. Everyone would. Which is a major killer of having fun. First time playing pickleball, you don't suck. You actually leave thinking, "Hey I could be good at this." Which is why people come back and play. And also why, people often use the words obsessed and addicted when talking about the game.

I honestly always thought of Pickleball as a poor man’s Tennis but I guess, seeing it from your perspective, it really isn’t. It’s a sport that deserves to be seen and respected as it’s own sport, not just the Wish.com version of Tennis (also seen as an Amazon product).

oo for sure it's a completely different game.

Well actually, I'll say...

Singles Pickleball resembles tennis a bit.

But doubles. COMPLETELY different game. so strategic and just so much fun!

The iconic grove of giant and ancient sequoia trees in Yosemite National Park is no longer under threat from the Washburn wildfire. Foresters and ecologists say a half-century of intentional burning or ''prescribed fire'' practices have dramatically reduced forest fuel, allowing the blaze to pass through the grove with the trees unscathed.

Why not paddle tennis?

When you say, "Pro," do really mean pro or just very good :-)

The Lower East Side is full of Pickle stores and wholesalers. One of my friends used to hold an annual Pickle Festival that was mobbed for free samples.
