Substack asks, "What tools are you excited to see us develop in the app next?"

I'd be excited to see the Substack community follow the example of the most successful companies in the world by integrating a public service component in to the Substack experience. As example, here's a brief summary of the charitable work being done by about 90 of the world's best known brands. The big dogs do it, and we should be too.

The most successful companies engage in public service activities because they understand that doing so enhances their brand and builds trust with customers, thus growing sales and profits. Substack publishers can benefit in the same manner. And, adding such a public service component to Substack can be a new income earner for the company, as explained here:

I've been here daily for 18 months and really appreciate the great tools Substack has generously made available for free. But I've struggled since the beginning in finding meaning in my blogging experience, and at this point I don't really need new tools, I need a bigger better reason to be writing. Writing to show off my English major skills just isn't cutting it for me.

So apologies for answering a question that you didn't actually ask, but would most excite me is not better tools from Substack, but a bigger vision. I want to feel part of community of good people who are making the world a better place, with more than just words.

Thanks for listening!
