In my nearly 40 years at the coalface of daily news, I would say "slow news" is key to improving standards. By that I mean the same as slow cooking - take time to do it well. It's essential to serving those readers/listeners/viewers who understand the value of a properly functioning media. The 24-7 news cycle has done a lot of damage, I feel. There just aren't enough people to do it properly.
