Today, we’re introducing a new feature that will make it simple to publish and view videos on Substack. With this feature, you can upload or record videos directly into a Substack post.
🖼Nicely said, Chevanne. I agree and believe that Substack is going to get betterand better to level up in quality and thus more artistic and creative writer will want to be part of Substack. ❤️
I don't know if this is the right place to give feedback but here we go...
First, amazing feature! It can make the experience much richier and been managed directly by substack instead of embeds from third-party videos enable you folks to keep the things smooth and performatic for writers and readers.
What I feel is missing for my goal is the possibity to include multiple videos per post. I write tutorials about developing web apps. My idea is to break the various steps into several small videos spread on the post.
I second this question. People love short, to the point, video. The video editing tools make it so simple to cut up a video into digestible lengths. It would be awesome to scatter them through a written post.
Great, I've been waiting for this to include a short trailer of my reflection videos. What's the recommended display size? Will it take 1280 x 720? What are file size limitations?
🖼Jairaj thanks for sharing a valuable information.
I noticed that my device only support 20 GB in high resolution on photos for example, but if I choose to send 25 GB it will take it, but without HD. ❤️
You're really going in on this. Which is great. One thing that I would love in the future is that comics have the option to be printed. I'm not a fan of some of the print on demand services that are out there.
Well, I like print on demand generally, but I am not a fan of places like Amazon and other print on demand services that help you get your stuff on Amazon. The requirements are always changing and causing problems for me. Plus it costs more than I have the money to pay for it. So something that reduces the cost or even eliminates it on the back end would help. I've been very financially strapped since before the pandemic. Substack is helping me by being less cost heavy upfront. I didn't join specifically because of comics but now that you have added it, I would love the full suite of services that a print on demand offers.
Just for additional context, most print on demand services require you to meet certain dimension and file requirements. Not everyone has the skills to do that, although I do. But then you have to print a copy of it and pay for the printing and delivery, which is having increasing costs in and of themselves. If there are any problems with the print, you have to order new copies at the same cost. And at any time, the dimensions and file requirements as well as the accepted printable options can change. So you go into a project with sunk costs. If Substack could provide a way to eliminate some of these, you'd be able to attract more people to the platform. Perhaps a similar option like the "send test email" function you have.
Thank you so much for all this work you are doing and the wonderful opportunities for all of us.
You as well, Natalia. Have a beautiful day.
Amazing! This platform is really leveling up. I’m glad to see this new development.

This makes me excited to create paid content. There are so many options!
Such opportunities, is what's going to bring in more talent and of course earnings from subscribers.
So so true. Let’s hope for the good future, George Ngigi.
Thank you for the share.
Well, just like you said, there are many options, but never like Substack. Thank you Chevanne.
Excellent. Thank you for working to get this up and running.
I agree Colleen. Thank you for posting.
OMG! This is what i've been waiting for. Can i just double check. Will it be MP4 or YT
Hi DCODED! You will be able to upload an MP4. What do you mean by YT (YouTube?)
Sorry. Yes. YouTube :)
Thank you Kevin for sharing your response and reply.
Thanks. Will using YouTube still be an option?
Yes! This just expands your video options, but you can continue to embed them from other sites.
Thanks, Bailey!
Good morning, Bailey. Thank you for your immediate response to most of our concerns. It’s nice to have someone with can rely on …HRH
🖼Good for you Annette and all of those who have YouTube. My only ever platform is with Bankless-Substack and LinkedIn platform. ❤️
Wonderful expansion.
New features. New things to learn. Thank you, Substack. ❤️
Hi there,

Thanks and congrats,

is it possible to embed a video in the middle of a post, instead of having it at the top of the post?
(like we can do with images)
or do we have to upload a video on YouTube, and then insert it in the middle of the post as a link?
Thank you in advance
Greg
Good question. I want to know, too!!
Great, I've been waiting for this to include a short trailer of my reflection videos. What's the recommended display size? Will it take 1280 x 720? What are file size limitations?
20GB is the maximum for file size right now! And we support variable aspect ratios now. No "ideal" just yet.
My video, imported from an iphone, has black bars around it when I put it on my substack page. how to fix this?
😀Just yet, but it’s coming up soon, right Bailey?
Len. As Bailey said few minutes ago: “the limitation for now is 20GB.
Thanks for asking.
🖼Jairaj thanks for sharing a valuable information.

Very nice
Absolutely, Lincoln. Thank you.
Pivot. PIVOT. **PIVOT.**
Thanks for posting Edward.

Love love your post and clarity, Andrew Heard,
..but may I ask why you are not fan of some of the print on demand? 😯

👍That makes perfect sense. Precise-well articulated explanation. Thanks again, Andrew Heard.

Hey, guys! The best news to my tuesday. Take a look on my proposal at the form you send to us!
Mauroamaral, thank you.
Do you mean to say: read rec. and play?
That sounds like a great idea.
Hey, Rosie, tks for your comment.
Not really. I'm just talk about the video feature. :)
But, yeah, [Read][Read][Play] is quite my life since 2003.
Hi, Mauro. Nice.
Look forward to having access to this great new feature. Thanks.
Lot of excitement here, grateful to substack and all the supporters. Thank you, The Blues Circle for posting.
