More than anything, I’m excited to build community with all of you, starting with Substack On Jan 8th (psssst final program was just published)! > > > substack.com/on
Also excited to spend more time with people who inspire me, simplify / declutter my space and mind, and be grateful to have another year of growth ahead.
Tony, I didn't say that I was filled with grief or discontent. I wrote that comment about getting a lobotomy because I thought it was funny.
However, truthfully I do have one burning issue re substack and my writing.
My over-riding problem: I am a techno Neanderthal and a complete primitive in the world of social media and this cripples and impedes my ability to disseminate my stuff.
I have OFFERED TO PAY PEOPLE if they would be willing to help me disseminate my stuff.
I have a couple of questions. No one has deigned to respond:
A) Can anyone refer me to a glossary of social media terms;
B) I have seen references on substack to substack beta. What is that.
Incidentally a couple of people on here DID RESPOND TO MY QUERIES, but I can't find them anymore because the threads or discussions where I met them have been closed.
I'd offer to help you in exchange for you helping me. I'm also a online & writing nube. I've signed up for beta just to check it out. The site isn't polished & I'm still learning to navigate it. Its not very forgiving or intuitive. They need to offer a good tutorial on 1st using it.
A great year for me as well while helping those with bigger challenges ... accidentally launching my book publishing e-news, meeting new clients from across the country in person, enjoying patio sitting and intelligent conversations with friends (even with masks and social distancing). Hoping for more of the first and less or none of the mask and sd in 2021.
Thanks Jonathan ... certainly living in a culture of progress instead of perfection. Had to apologize and know all my folks were thinking what the heck is this!!??? But reconnected with 3 people I hadn't talked with in a while. One a former client who is going to retire in June and join our education non-profit team for our Wild West Diversity youth programs (which will be my second substack website with a podcast) ... good times ahead.
Thank you for saying you’ve had a great 2020. I have too for the most part — of course there have been challenges but there has been a tremendous amount of unimagined good, and that’s not nothing (that might actually be everything). Cheers and best wishes to you in 2021!
I write this comment with no small measure of trepidation as I fear that it will make me seem like a weak, dependent, clump of manure. I would like to take you up on your offer. I need help. But I am willing to pay you for assistance. As I have said on here, I have serious problems understanding the nuts and bolts of social media ( perhaps there is something about the ambience, style and mood of people on social media that just grates on my 20th century sensibilities.) and this impedes my ability to disseminate my writing and find readers.
I would like to be able to speak to you.
Finally, if you were to render assistance. I can reciprocate. As I said, I can pay you. I also can render legal services. I am an attorney admitted to the New York Bar and the federal Eastern and Southern districts of New York.
Hi David! Please feel no shame in asking for help. We could not possibly have come to survive and thrive without the aid of others.
In any case, this sounds like an interesting request. I am in the process of doing things that don't scale so will be talking to everyone that asks me for help.
Please fill out the form on the following page so we can setup a call next week. In the call I want to learn more about your story, your pain points in understanding social media, and defining what success looks like for you as a result of helping you with this request: https://www.notion.so/helpfultogether/Need-help-7531780a5a7647e583d044108f789fff
Creating more content for my audience, improve my skills in plenty of areas, going for 30,000 subscribers, stay healthy and give back to less fortunate people. :)
I've had a pretty rough time, as most of us have, and it will be difficult for a while until certain things are brought under control, especially my tight budget. I just want to have a sense of security and maybe even a little joy this next year. Those two things would be nice to experience for a change.
New music!! 2020 has been equal parts miserable and inspiring, and I'm excited to build a community of subscribers in the new year who love to deep dive into music, film, and media that's weird, wonderful, and off the beaten track. Come join me!! https://thepitchofdiscontent.substack.com/
I am 70 years old and have been an avid cyclist (triathlete in the 1990s) for most of my life. As I got older I realized that in order to remain vital, capable and of value and accountable to myself and those that depend on me I had to strengthen up my core and work on my self image. I have been working on my program for almost 1 year (I started in late January 2020) and I am now looking for forward to testing myself and getting even stronger in 2021.
I've decided to put publishing on hold for the summer and crack back in from February. Already that's what I'm looking most forward to! Being this keen to work on my newsletter again after months of grinding is the dream result from my burn-out inspired break.
Hi, I want to automatically display the latest newsletter on my WordPress site. I know I can do it manually, but I want to it to happen automatically. I can't find anything about displaying newsletters on external sites. https://thepaymentsbusiness.com John
Not affiliated to Substack, but you could probably look at using an RSS reader plugin. Then, after entering your newsletter's RSS feed url, the latest newsletter would be displayed.
I’m most looking forward to continuing to write my newsletter about children’s books and the magic of reading aloud. It is the best thing I’ve done in 2020 — it has really gotten me through, mentally, and I’m grateful. The fact that I get to keep doing it just makes me happy. (I’m also looking forward to my grandmother turning 100!)
Sarah ... lucky you and your grandmother. Sure miss mine and my mom. I help people publish for leverage or legacy. Almost all my legacy projects are children's books. No better way to spend your time than reading children's books and meeting the authors to get a glimpse of their creative imagination. Reading and the book business is indeed magical!
Feeling truly fortunate to be living in Aotearoa New Zealand during these difficult times.
At the end end of February we’ll be asking all Creative Dharma subscribers to take part in an open Zoom meeting where they can let us know what they liked about our newsletter during this our first (half) year, and where we might get an idea of where we take the newsletter next.
Of the three of us who currently put it together, my role in the meeting will be to raise the notion of a voluntary subscription with our community, one that we would be giving away to artists of one sort or another and those looking to develop a creative dharma community where they live.

I am looking for the COVID infection rate to decline to such a level that my local bar will reopen. I'm also looking to start entering free essays on my Substack account so people might appreciate that I can write.
I‘m gonna say something I didn‘t think I‘d ever say: I miss networking. Because I miss events in general. How do you meet new people with interesting opinions in the media if you‘re literally not allowed to see them? I will enjoy that a lot.
I this time when such things are under attack by entrenched corporate sectors, I'm looking forward to a renaissance of truth, justice, liberty and a year when folks once again understand the importance of questioning authority.
More than anything, I’m excited to build community with all of you, starting with Substack On Jan 8th (psssst final program was just published)! > > > substack.com/on

See you all in 2021!
Thrilled for Substack On!
If you want to declutter your mind, you can always consider a lobotomy .
Time is doing that slowly. What's your grief?

Dear Tony:
I tried to send the following response to you, but it did not go through. I am sending it again:
Thanks for getting back to me.
I am not sure what purpose Beta serves. Actually, I have no idea.
I would like to speak to you about what we can do for one another.
I believe that my response to you is public.
Do you know how we can communicate privately.
I would love to give you my e mail address, but I think it might be deleted from the post.
Thanks Ellie. Love your weekly prompts
Thank you for your kind enthusiasm.
Tony, I just noticed you are a psychiatrist. I just have to refer you to my essay entitled, "TWELVE WAYS PSYCHIATRIC TREATMENT CAN EXACERABE AND MAGNIFY EMOTIONAL ABERRATIONS." The link is https://davidgottfried.substack.com/p/twelve-ways-psychiatric-treatment,

I've been fortunate to have a great 2020 despite the pandemic and want to spend 2021 helping those who may not have been so lucky.
Here's to an incredible 2021 🥂

Great mindset to always have Sarah. We will never have a "bad" year if we focus on all the good that happens to us. Best wishes!
